Trolltunga is situated about 1100 meters above sea level, hovering 700 metres above lake Ringedalsvatnet. The view is breathtaking.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The trail:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe trail to Trolltunga is well signposted. From the main trailhead at P2 in Skjeggedal it is a 28 km return hike with an ascent of 1.200 and an estimated hiking time of 10\u201312 hours. There are additional trailheads at P1 in Tyssedal and P3 at M\u00e5gelitopp. Shuttle services connect Odda and P2 Skjeggedal and the P1, P2 and P3 parking lots. For more information, see below.<\/p>\n<p>Signs along the trail to Trolltunga let you keep track of the remaining distance to Trolltunga and back to the trailhead, Telenor offers 4G coverage on most of the hike. The hike to Trolltunga is recommended from the beginning of June (depending on when the snow melts) until the end of September. Make a careful evaluation of your own shape and equipment. All nature based activities are at your own risk. If you are not an experienced hiker, join a guided hike. Guided hikes are offered by <a href=\"http:\/\/trolltunga-active.com\/\">Trolltunga Active<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trolltungaadventures.com\/\">Trolltunga Adventures<\/a> Frrom 16th. of February, guided snowshoe or ski hikes are offered by <a href=\"http:\/\/trolltunga-active.com\/\">trolltunga-active.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment:<\/strong><br \/>\nAll nature-based activities are at your own risk. You will need sturdy hiking boots, bring extra warm clothing, rainwear and be prepared for bad weather. Bring map and compass, plenty to eat and drink, a torch and a simple first aid kit. Weather in the high mountains can change quickly \u2013 check the latest weather forecast before going to Trolltunga. Do NOT hike to Trolltunga in strong wind, heavy rain or in foggy weather. It is always colder in the mountains than down by the fjord. Respect the nature.<\/p>\n<p>Every year there are search and rescue operations for hikers in serious trouble. Prepare well and be a responsible and safe hiker. Start early in the morning. Norway is far north, meaning daylight is short from September and nights are very cold.
